The term ‘Life Skills’ refers to the skills you need to make the most out of life.

In a constantly changing environment, having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life.

Life skills are valuable lessons kids will use throughout their lifetime.

Any skill that is useful in your life can be considered a life skill. Tying your shoelaces, swimming, driving a car and using a computer are some useful life skills.

Health and Hygiene

Health is cleanliness and cleanliness is one of the main defenses against diseases, whether contagious or self-generated.
One personal benefit of good hygiene is having better health. Keeping your body clean helps prevent illness and infection from bacteria or viruses.

Here is some basic routine for Personal Hygiene:

  • Bathe regularly.
  • Trim your nails.
  • Brush and floss.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Sleep tight.

Time-Management

“Time management” refers to the way that you organize and plan how long you spend on specific activities.Failing to manage your time damages your effectiveness and causes stress

Every parent knows how important time management is to keep your family on track. But it’s also important for kids to start learning time management lessons now.

Not only does teaching younger children how to measure time, stay on task and keep to a schedule help make your days easier, learning this life skill also helps them become masters of time so they can do everything from get up on schedule to someday getting to work on time.

Decision-Making Skills

Decisionmaking is the process of identifying and choosing alternatives based on the values, preferences, and beliefs of the decisionmaker.

Making good decisions is a life skill every child should begin learning at a young age.

As parents, we tend to always think what is best for our children but it would be best to have them think of decisions themselves and have them responsible for their action.

As simple as letting them choose what they prefer or what clothing would they wear. Train them at an early age

Cleaning Up

Definition of clean – free from dirt, marks, or stains.

Asking children to tidy up after themselves provides your child with not only responsibility but also accountability.
They need to clean/care for the utensils and space that they are using and to keep their space clean.

Including your child in tidying is a very important part of their development.

Summary

Life skills are usually associated with managing and living a better quality of life. They help us to accomplish our ambitions and live to our full potential.

In this changing environment and busy days, we must equip our children with necessary tools for them to withstand the challenges brought by time.

Letting them learn and giving them the freedom to do things would help them develop certain skills that would lead them to have a brighter tomorrow.

Life skills equip students to thrive in the classroom and in the world beyond.
