Let me tell you more about the Basic Course.  Let’s talk about HOP, it is the first course you need to finish. This is where you learn to read, put, add and subtract numbers in the abacus.

HOP

HOP is the first course that students do in online-soroban. Please do make use to prepare the abacus beforehand for students to use.

At first, they will be able to familiarize numbers on the abacus especially the number from 1-9.
They would see the beads move on the screen and then would try to put it in the abacus.

Reading Numbers in the Abacus

Students would try to answer what number is on the screen. These are numbers from 1-9.
Oh! by the way, the characters you see is Sakura(leftmost), Taro(middle) and the Abacus teacher(right).

This is where students learn how to put the numbers on the abacus.
Which finger would they use and how would they add and subtract.

There will be exercises after each explanation in order to let students be familiarized with it.
Just a reminder though, students should use the proper finger in doing abacus, right index finger (subtraction) and thumb(addition).
Students learn how to add and subtract numbers from 1 – 9. As students go through the course they can add up to 20.
